Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you want to know about ABM™ NeuroMovement® sessions at Rewire — before you book.

About the Method

ABM™ NeuroMovement® is a gentle, science-based movement therapy rooted in neuroplasticity — the brain's lifelong ability to learn and reorganize. Rather than targeting muscles or joints in isolation, sessions work with your brain's learning capacity to reduce pain, restore function, and improve quality of life. Learn more about the method →
Physical therapy typically focuses on specific muscles, joints, or injuries. ABM™ NeuroMovement® works with your brain's learning capacity as a whole — the goal is to help the nervous system discover new patterns rather than correct or strengthen a specific area. Many clients come to ABM™ after physical therapy has reached its limits, and find that working at the brain level creates breakthroughs that weren't possible before.
Both methods use movement to facilitate brain learning and share similar philosophical roots. ABM™ NeuroMovement® was developed by Anat Baniel, who trained directly with Moshe Feldenkrais, and has since evolved into its own distinct approach with the Nine Essentials framework. At Rewire, our practice has deep roots in both traditions.
Yes. A peer-reviewed paper published in Frontiers in Integrative Neuroscience (2024), co-authored by Anat Baniel and researchers affiliated with Harvard Medical School, provides scientific evidence for movement-based connection as a powerful path to neurological change. Sessions & What to Expect

Sessions are gentle, quiet, and deeply attentive. You'll typically lie on a comfortable padded table while I use precise, gentle touch or verbal guidance to invite your nervous system to notice new possibilities. Many people describe feeling lighter, more at ease, or more connected to their body afterward. There is no force, no pain, and no pushing through discomfort.
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing you can move freely in. You remain fully clothed throughout the session. Avoid tight jeans or anything restrictive. Layers are helpful — some people feel warm during sessions, others cooler.
There's no fixed number — it depends on what you're working with and how your nervous system responds. Most people notice meaningful shifts within the first 3–5 sessions. For chronic or complex conditions, a longer series typically yields the best results. We discuss this during your free consultation.
Sessions for adults typically last 45–60 minutes. Sessions for adolescents are usually 30–45 minutes, paced by what feels right for them. Your free initial consultation is 20 minutes by phone.

Practical Questions

ABM™ NeuroMovement® is not a licensed healthcare profession and is generally not covered by health insurance. Sessions are out-of-pocket. Some clients have successfully applied sessions toward their HSA or FSA accounts — check with your plan provider.
Yes. Virtual ABM™ NeuroMovement® sessions are available via video call for clients who cannot visit in person. These sessions use verbal guidance and self-directed movement rather than hands-on touch, and are effective for many conditions. Virtual sessions are available to clients nationwide.

I am certified to work with adults and adolescents. I do not currently offer sessions for young children or children with special needs, as that requires a separate specialized certification. If you're looking for ABM™ NeuroMovement® support for a young child, I'm happy to help point you toward a certified practitioner with that specialization.

Getting Started

The best way is a conversation. I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation where you can share what you're experiencing and ask any questions. There's no pressure or commitment. Book your free consultation →
Neuroplasticity is the brain's lifelong ability to change, reorganize, and form new neural connections in response to experience. It's the scientific foundation of ABM™ NeuroMovement® — the understanding that the brain is never finished learning, and that meaningful change is possible at any age, regardless of diagnosis or history.
Rewire brings together formal ABM™ certification with a family lineage spanning three generations of movement-based practice — from the Feldenkrais Method to Anat Baniel Method® NeuroMovement®. Every session is informed by both rigorous training and a deep personal understanding of what it means to work from curiosity rather than correction. Read Meir's story →
